(iii) Use teaching aids

Pictures, objects and computers used in the classroom will provide more information on the content of the lesson to students. To some extent, they shape the relationship between students and teachers. Sometimes, it also improves their relationship in class. For example, “silent way” is a good teaching method in foreign language teaching. Teacher always uses some objects to train students’ ability of speech. Teacher should make full use of all teaching aids such as computer and some objects in real life so as to raise students’ awareness on nonverbal communication.

5 Conclusion

To sum up, nonverbal communication occupies a decisive position in intercultural communication and foreign language teaching. It is the window of all people’s minds. Our emotions are reflected in our body behaviors. We can express our emotions appropriately without uttering a word provided that we learn different cultures of body language. To raise people’s awareness of learning nonverbal communication is necessary, only when we comprehend other modes of thinking can we make a successful communication. In a word, the successful application of nonverbal communication can lead to successful life.
